Once upon a time, before Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo or Bull Shoals, James River and White River float trips were legendary. People could float for weeks to destinations in Branson or Rockaway Beach. They looked for food, lodging, and entertainment when they arrived from the wilderness.
The seeds of those adventurers grew into the Branson we know and love today. A piece of the legendary float still exists on the James River. The float from Springfield to Table Rock Lake is a four-day undertaking. The scenery is breathtaking, and the beauty of the wilderness still abounds. Very few can experience this treasure due to life’s circumstances.
For example, a trip to Springfield Dam and back is only three hours by Hovercraft. Our HOVBUG Hovercraft River Adventure Tours also enable many other activities previously unavailable. If you would like to float the James River, we can oblige you. We can arrange small mouth tube fishing for any stretch of the river you desire. If you are celebrating a special occasion or desire a friendly get-together on one of the many beautiful stops along the river, we can make that happen, too! 15-minute tours are $140 for four to five people. Ages 3 and under are free if they sit on someone’s lap.
Hovercrafts “fly” on an eight-inch cushion of air, making the vehicle capable of safely traveling on land or water. At Camp Tomahawk, we call it flying because the hovercraft is not touching the river’s surface. Unlike boats, the hovercraft’s air cushion allows it to travel safely over the James River regardless of depth or underwater obstacles.
Our HOVBUG Hovercraft is built for year-round fun and seats four to five adults. It has a 21′ composite design made of solid foam, Kevlar and fiberglass, making it an awesome-performing unsinkable river adventurer. A licensed captain conducts our HOVBUG Hovercdraft River Adventures.
There’s a two-person minimum per trip. The vehicle will hold up to five people with a total weight limit of 750 (guests) per tour. If an individual wants a tour, they will have to wait and ride with a group with room for them. Backpacks, purses and other carry-on items must fit on your lap.
15-minute tours are at the top and bottom of each hour and are upriver and back.

Custom or longer tours are available. For example, a tour could be to drop you off at Flat Creek Restaurant, pick you up, and return to Camp Tomahawk after dinner. Call Camp Tomahawk for complete details.
Tours are weather permitting, and bookings are 100% refundable if canceled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
